I’ve stayed at Candlewood Suites Avondale on and off for nearly six weeks while working on a local project, and I travel often for work, so reliable extended-stay accommodations matter to me. The property is clean, well-maintained, comfortable, and suited to a longer visit. The team’s service and leadership are what set it apart. It’s rare to find that level of genuine care alongside strong operations. I recommend it to business travelers, people staying longer, and anyone visiting the area.

April at the front desk made my hotel stay especially nice. She welcomed me warmly, was professional, and patiently answered all my questions. Check-in was easy with her help, and it was clear she takes pride in looking after guests. Thanks, April, for such great service.

Victoria, thanks for keeping our room clean all weekend. Sarah and April were great too. I travel each year with my kids for sports, and in six years we haven’t had better service. The owners should recognize these women. We’ll choose this location every time.

The room was clean, and I was impressed by it and by the smooth check-in with Jessica, who was friendly and welcoming. My husband is a platinum member with the chain. We did have a strong smell of old diner food in the room, and couldn’t get the thermostat to switch from heat to a cooler setting. Those issues were enough to lower my rating by a star. The bigger problem came with checkout. My husband told the night and morning desk staff we’d be checking out late before he left to golf. I misunderstood and thought he meant 3, though it was actually 2. Before noon, the maid came in despite our do not disturb sign and later said she hadn’t checked her list. I told her it was okay and that I thought we had until 3. Around 12:30, she returned to say checkout was at 1. As I was putting on my shoes to leave, I heard her and the front desk clerk arguing about our room. I spoke with the front desk manager, Sarah T, and found her snarky and aggressive. When I explained that my husband had discussed late checkout with multiple staff members, she said the latest time was 2. I accepted that I’d misunderstood him about 3 and said I’d be out by 2. After I went back to finish packing, my key stopped working for both my room and the side entrance. Sarah said keys deactivate automatically at noon and that she hadn’t done it on purpose. If she knew that would happen, I wish she’d told me when I spoke to her. The whole episode and her attitude soured the stay and cost it another star. Sarah, a management role calls for manners and common courtesy. I hope your day goes well, and my sympathy goes to the staff who have to work with someone so sour.
