Days Inn by Wyndham Bad Axe

At about 12:30 pm, my boyfriend took a shower and got locked in the bathroom. Without his phone, he might have been stuck until I got back at 6:30 pm. When staff got him out, they laughed about it. The service and housekeeping were absolutely horrific. This started after our first night, which had been uneventful. The next day, my five-year-old moved the mattress while messing around, and I found something under the bed that a quick image search showed wasn’t the Kong dog toy we’d hoped it was. They moved us to a supposedly just-cleaned room. I was away at a baby shower when my boyfriend arrived there and found a hairbrush right by the entrance. Housekeeping, do better.

I wasn’t expecting much beyond a fridge and microwave, and the place ended up exceeding my expectations. It feels clean and safe, and it was consistently quiet. The furniture was all new, the mattress was very clean, and the few staff members I met were lovely.

The attached restaurant is great, and the service is okay. For a low-end hotel, this one is surprisingly good. I stayed twice even though I’d only meant to stay once. It used to be a motor inn, so don’t expect to see a huge Days Inn sign.

The staff went above and beyond when my daughter left the car door open and the battery died. They jumped the car for us. We picked this hotel because it was within a half hour of all the places we wanted to visit in the Thumb. Our room was very clean, and the diner was clean too, with great service and delicious food.
