Holiday Inn Express and Suites Bad Axe

The staff are consistently warm and professional, greeting you with a smile as soon as you arrive. Little things help too, like automatic sliding doors that make it easy to wheel your bags in. There’s an indoor pool, whirlpool, complimentary breakfast, and a 24-hour self-serve coffee bar. The rooms are spacious and modern, with plenty of outlets, good desk space, and ample room for hanging clothes and storing luggage. Everything is clean and well kept. In this largely agricultural, rural part of the Thumb, a hotel of this quality is a real asset. The Holiday Inn in Bad Axe, Michigan, is a true hidden gem, comfortable and well run, and made for an easy, relaxing getaway.

I was surprised they showed no interest in working with me, and they didn’t even bother to call back. I’m a Diamond Elite member and used to stay here regularly. I’d unknowingly booked a nonrefundable rate that I needed to change. I switched a night and was charged the full amount. When I asked if they could move it to a future date, they said the rules were the rules. Terrible service. I won’t do business here again.

The only thing we could complain about was the cold Michigan weather. The hotel was immaculate, and the pool area and hot tub were wonderful. We stayed three nights over Thanksgiving while visiting family and friends. It was great to see Shannon, the manager, whom I’ve known since high school. She does an amazing job.

The hallways and bed comforters smelled exceptionally clean. The hotel was very clean, easy to get to, and I’d stay here again.
