The host made us feel like we were staying at a friend's cabin, and even sent us a pair of glasses we'd left behind. David had also suggested parking at the bottom of the drive if it was snowy, which was useful: we managed in a two-wheel-drive car, but a 4x4 or all-wheel drive would have been better. The main roads were fine. The cabin itself had all the privacy, mountain scenery, and wildlife visitors promised in the listing, plus a full kitchen and an outdoor gas grill that made cooking there easy. We brought firewood and peanuts for the animal visitors, and were glad to find enough of both already there to get us started. The wood stove kept things warm and cozy, and the hot tub under the stars while snow fell lightly was hard to beat. We stayed in early March, and Pike National Forest's entrance was a quick drive away for hikes and more views. We were surprised by how many nearby restaurants the small-town area had, from BBQ and burgers to Thai and Chinese. We loved our stay and hope to return soon.
