We booked about 10 rooms for our annual family get-together, and I heard nothing but good feedback from everyone. That almost never happens with our group. Check-in staff were friendly, and the next morning Manager Sal spent time talking with my family about things to do nearby. I appreciated him being so patient while we peppered him with questions. We'd stayed here once around 4-5 years ago, and it looks so different now. I’m glad to see the upgrades under the new management. Baldwin needed a new hotel, and I’m happy this is the one. We’ll definitely be back next year.

The best part of this stay was checking out. I’ve never been so glad to leave a hotel. We paid $300 for two non-refundable nights, 12/12 and 12/13, mainly because we wanted the pool. It was closed, and we got no compensation. We also couldn’t check out at three or add a night as compensation. I know those options are addressed in the policies, but I still feel like we lost $300. It made me wonder whether guests are just out of luck if the power or water is off, or there’s a fire. The place was exceptionally loud on Saturday. Maybe 20-30 kids ran and yelled in the halls for hours, apparently with a Madison team, since several doors had names and numbers. They were having fun, but the noise was excessive and the front desk did nothing. Housekeeping did what I asked on Saturday and did a good job. The mini fridge was awful. It was plugged into a cheap five-dollar power strip with the microwave, which didn’t seem safe to me. The fridge wasn’t cold, and its outside was burning hot. Please replace it for the next guests. The TV was confusing too. My TV stick worked, but getting it set up was a hassle because we needed a “master” remote from the desk. A regular remote would make it easier to connect personal devices. There were three empty soap holders in the shower, the kind used when this was a Cobblestone, but only tiny packets on the sink. I find those packets wasteful and bad for the environment. When I asked, “where is the soap???”, I was accused of disrespecting staff. Breakfast was very limited, which I can understand at a budget motel, though much of it seemed old and crumbly. The yogurts were good. A few hours after I posted a one-star review, it looked like an employee had written or edited a fake review. I recognized the profile picture as a guy from the front desk, which seemed unprofessional. This is the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, and I’ll remember it for all the wrong reasons.

The room felt cozy and modern, with crisp linens and everything neatly arranged. What stood out most was how clean the whole place was, from the lobby and hallways to the room itself. It made the stay easy and comfortable. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing, and the simple design still felt stylish. Staff seemed to care about keeping the property looking good and feeling welcoming. It was easy to settle in after a long day without worrying about little things. I’d happily stay here again if I wanted a clean, thoughtfully put-together hotel.

I’ve stayed here several times over the past couple of years, usually under my company’s name, and I’m here right now with pictures of what I’m describing. I believe the hotel was sold a little over a year ago. Since then, customer service, cleanliness, and maintenance seem to have declined. It feels like making money matters more than making guests comfortable. There are slot machines in the lobby seating area. Last night I found a mouse crushed in the entrance door jamb, and what looks like mold in the bathroom covered with fresh paint. Stay with caution. Owner, do better.

Sal has been so accommodating. On my last trip, he helped me find transportation to the cities and free parking while I was away. The hotel is being updated, and the pool and whirlpool are great for relaxing or getting some exercise. Everyone on staff is pleasant, and my room was clean and comfortable. Thanks to the whole team at AmericInn in Baldwin. I’ll be back!
