Microtel Inn and Suites Baldwin

We stayed five days. The room and hallways were generally in disrepair, and there were several problems: the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, the TV switched channels every 30 minutes, the shower faucet had to be twisted hard to stop a drip, a chair’s bottom came off when moved, and the deadbolt didn’t work. There was also a stained comforter on one bed, a soda bottle behind the door, and a running toilet with a broken lever. Maintenance fixed the toilet while we were out, but left the room door open. The place was noisy but reasonably clean. I was told early check in would cost an extra $20. The desk person was okay, but the woman at the morning desk barely kept the breakfast stocked, and it was quite disappointing. Luckily my wife wasn’t with me, she wouldn’t have been happy.

The hallways had trash lying around, and flies were present, which added to the unclean, poorly maintained feel. Our first room had a large hole in the ceiling. When we asked to move, the front desk staff responded with an attitude. The second room had visible mold on the bathroom ceiling. We told the desk we were canceling our week long stay because of these conditions, and the staff member got rude instead of dealing with our concerns. Cleanliness and customer service were both far below basic standards. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

It was affordable, and there’s everything you need in town within half a mile. A good choice for visiting family nearby. Parking was easy, the room was good, and the staff were excellent. The heat worked well when we needed it.

The location was good, the beds were comfy, and it was quiet. Still, I found hairs in the shower and bathroom, which grossed me out. The rugs were worn, the wallpaper in the room was peeling, and I saw a mouse near the back door. That door doesn’t slam shut. It was okay for one night.
