Chase at Light

Being close to the convention center was the one good thing. The apartment was rundown and dirty, with old appliances thrown together like they'd come from a junk shop. The bedroom bedding was clean, but the extra bedding for the couch smelled like urine, and there was no detergent to wash it. We even found someone's underwear under the couch. Street and bar noise and light made it hard to sleep if you're not someone who can sleep through an air raid. On the third day, our parking garage chip card stopped working and we had to pay $25 to get out. The owner promised to refund us, and I reminded them repeatedly, but then they ghosted us. The place is cheap, and you get what you pay for.

Management and ownership showed incredible care and compassion, especially given our situation. We felt safe, and having secure indoor parking available 24 hours a day was a must for us, since parking can cost up to $40 a day. The apartment was also near everything. We stayed at chase apartments in Baltimore while visiting John’s Hopkins, and the stay was SUPERB. I highly recommend this company!

Two days before we were due to leave, the host suggested moving us to another location. We'd booked months earlier and had emailed twice beforehand, saying we were excited to stay and asking about parking. The host had read those messages but never replied. I said we didn't want to move because of previous reviews about the places they'd sent people. After that, he never messaged again and didn't cancel the stay. I worked directly with AirBnB to get a credit because the host wouldn't communicate. This was during Preakness and several conventions, so finding another place was extremely difficult and expensive. I'd like to believe the host's message was true, but given the poor communication and the reviews, I think it was a lie. In case you get the same message, this is what he sent: "Emily we have a medical family staying at that unit and unfortunately they needed to extend their treatment in Hopkins and the unit now won’t be available for the dates requested. I sent you an alternate option for your consideration Ty"

My booking was canceled by text the day before. It seems to happen to a lot of people, so I wouldn't risk booking this property. I never went there, but the hassle isn't worth it. They don't answer the phones, and you won't get your money back. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
