Bangor Grande

Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were very good, reasonably priced, and served excellently. Outside was clean and well lit, so I felt secure, and my room was tidy with free bottled water, the usual bathroom amenities, and plenty of soft, clean towels. The bed was comfortable, the heating and AC were easy to use, and the TV was huge, around 48 or 52 inches. I’ve stayed at the Hojo, Holiday Inn, and Super 8 nearby before, and none had a TV that big. I never heard anyone at night, though the toilet sometimes ran. The young women at check-in were professional, warm, and courteous. My key for room 128 by door #2 worked every time. At checkout, the young man called me “bud” twice instead of sir, which is why I’m giving four stars. His name tag was turned around. I’d still stay again. I was there May 22nd-23rd.

Sydney greeted us at 8-30 pm with a warm smile and patiently waited while I looked for my information. She was helpful as we talked through room choices. When I saw her again at 9am, she was still pleasant and smiling, even though she said she’d only had five hours of sleep. I didn’t have any US cash to tip her. We enjoyed the overnight stay.

Morgan at the front desk was kind and helpful, and moving rooms did improve things. The first room, though, was disgusting: an empty fireball container was under the mattress, the wall had suspicious marks that looked like something had been “squirted” on it, and there was hair in the bathroom. The mattress and bedframe were stained, and the halls smelled of smoke. I wasn’t impressed and wouldn’t come back.

The flight noise was the downside of staying near the highway and airport. Several planes left around 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. Even so, check-in was smooth and the staff were very helpful. The bed was fantastically comfortable, and after a long day the shower was delightfully hot. There must’ve been 600 pillows in my room. I exaggerate, but I like having extra pillows. The only letdown was the brand new desk chair, which felt like sitting on cement blocks. I’d stay here again.
