Hilton Garden Inn Bangor

The hotel looks nice, but the showers swung between scalding and freezing, and there was barely any hot water. We called several times to confirm long-term parking, yet our car was towed while we were on vacation. Never stay here.

I've stayed here twice in the summer of 2025, after my usual corporate rates at other local hotels were blacked out. This was more affordable, or only a few dollars more, and I found the rooms simple and basic in a way I actually like. The bathroom door opens to block hallway noise, though it wasn't loud, and there's a built-in night light in the bathroom ceiling light. The familiar garden inn pantry has a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, plus a basic but comfortable chair. I was in a two-queen room both times. The rooms were clean, and I had no maintenance issues. The one downside is the cost, though it's fair for what you get. I wish my company would negotiate a preferred rate. Still, staying here or at the Hampton and getting a burger and beer at the bar feels like a treat. I've also eaten here several times while staying at the Hampton Inn, and sometimes driven over from the Courtyard or Towneplace when I'm there. The food is consistently decent and good value, and Alex and Sandra provide great service. Even though breakfast costs extra at this full-service hotel, they still put out free coffee in the lobby, which I appreciate. I just want black coffee in the morning, not cold brew protein frappes and iced cold foam.

The first time we stayed, there were free cookies at check-in, and the spa was nice. The hot tub was genuinely hot, with powerful jets. On our return visit, it wasn't as good. No free cookies, which isn't a big deal, though I love cookies, and the TV in our room didn't work. With two young kids, that was frustrating. I called the front desk and waited an hour, but nobody came to fix it. By then it was getting late, so I called again and told them to forget it. Still a good hotel, just not as great as last time.

My daughter was excited that Denny’s was just down the road, and I was glad to see Sam’s Club nearby. The room itself was spotless and looked well maintained. Thanks to the Hilton Honors app and keyless entry, I picked my room in the app, entered through the side door, and went straight upstairs without seeing any staff during my stay. Seeing my name on the TV as a welcome was a nice touch.
