Acadia Ocean View Hotel

We walked in, saw the dated rooms with nothing special about them, and decided to stay somewhere else. There was old pizza and salad in the fridge, too. That made us think we should check the bed for bugs to be safe. I wouldn’t bother staying here.

The location is good and the staff were friendly, but the hotel felt like everything had been done halfway. The room looked nice at first, then we noticed dim room lighting, poor bathroom ventilation, sloppy paint and caulking, and a floor that seemed clean but turned our feet black. They seem to know what makes a good hotel, but haven’t put in the effort or investment to get there. It’s okay for a night or two, but don’t expect to be impressed.

We had a peaceful stay in August 2025, north of Bar Harbor and away from the heavy tourist traffic. The ocean view was beautiful. Our room was plain but clean and well kept, and I’d stay here again.

The room was adequate, and there was a nice range of breakfast snacks. The bed and pillows were very hard, though that’s just my opinion. Also, the hotel name is misleading: the view is of a bay or harbor with lots of islands, not the open ocean. It may connect to the ocean, but you can’t see the ocean proper.
