Rustic River Paradise - One Bedroom Cabin with Hot Tub

The natural setting was stunning. The photos didn't capture how beautiful and secluded the home is, with clear river views, nearby mountain peaks and golden eagles. The property was clean, and there were two fire starters and plenty of firewood. The hot tub was the main reason we booked, but it was a big letdown. The jets seemed to run at only about 10% power, with barely any pressure and no bubbles or movement in the water. We couldn't get it above 98 degrees, which felt too cold with winter nights around 33 degrees. We tried it both nights for about ten minutes, then gave up. The indoor shower was much warmer. Starting a fire was tough both times. There was no kindling, axe or newspaper, and the rechargeable flashlight in the kitchen by the sliding door didn't work. The cookware was incomplete, with no small skillet, and cooking oil would've been useful. The kitchen appliances were very dated, and the oven was so small that only the custom baking sheet, with bent sides, would fit. There was no internet, so the Roku and its streaming services weren't set up. The TV changed channels every 30 minutes, and since we didn't know how it was programmed, it was extremely annoying during the middle of a Seahawks playoff game. The living area was also very dim at night. We contacted the owners to explain how disappointing the stay had been but got no reply. Compared with the price and similar rentals we've stayed in, this was below average.

Here, “rustic” meant broken and disgusting. We couldn't stay there, especially with children, and so far Vacasa has ignored my request for a refund.

It's a nice little place at the end of the street, right on the river. There's pleasant beach access and a pool area where the water doesn't move too fast.

The floor-to-ceiling windows are lovely in this cute vacation rental. It'd be perfect for a couple wanting a getaway.
