Budget Inn, Hwy 41

Filthy and badly neglected throughout. The furniture was worn and disgusting, and the whole place reeked of cigarettes and weed. There was some nasty green stuff, maybe snot, smeared on the bathroom wall. The exhaust fan cover was missing, and a stairwell handrail was patched together with duct tape.

The only things that worked well were the AC and the hot water. We stayed twice for two days each time because this is one of only two hotels in town, and both visits we got the same room, number 120. There was a cat pee smell in the same spot on the bed and sheets every time. The walls and wood had cracks and holes, with brown stains across most of the baseboards and walls. A door between our room and the neighbors' room was blocked by one of our two beds, so it couldn't be reached. The mini fridge barely worked and all the groceries in it spoiled. Wifi was poor, and trash was piled outside behind a fence. The neighbors played music and yelled loudly. Hard to tell whether they were just that loud or if the door between rooms, instead of a wall, made it worse. The curtains let light in and were coming loose at one end, held up with a safety pin. There was even a trash bag over the smoke detector on the ceiling. Just dirty and neglected, with the bare minimum done.

Staff were friendly and helpful, and even let me look at the room before I paid. The place felt peaceful, with no one bothering me or obnoxious people hanging around. It's close enough to walk to a grocery store, restaurants, and other spots. Easily the cleanest local hotel I've been to. No bugs, everything tidy, and the microwave was spotless. The AC, lights, and TV all worked. There's no coffee maker in the room, but free coffee is available in the lobby. Great stay, I'd go back.

The ice machine was out of order, there was no breakfast, and no conditioner in the room. I asked for extra towels and got just one, and I had to take out my own trash. It smelled like weed and smoke despite being supposed to be a nonsmoking hotel.
