Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Barstow by IHG

We stopped on the way home from Memorial Day travel because the kids were getting restless. The little ones were happy with the pool, but we soon spotted several cockroaches, both alive and dead, scattered around. We no longer felt confident about the nearby room’s cleanliness and asked for a refund two hours after checking in. They said Danny at the front desk would refund us the next day, but we still haven’t heard back.

The lobby felt warm and welcoming, and breakfast had a great variety with something for everyone. All the service staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We stayed overnight to break up a long drive, and it felt perfect, almost like home. The indoor pool was a little chilly, but my boys still enjoyed playing and unwinding after the drive. I wish every stay could be this pleasant!

The indoor pool and hot tub were a real treat after two hours of driving and then car trouble. The hot tub was working, and I even got in a push workout the next morning. The gym was well above average for this kind of hotel. The location is great, near lots of restaurants and shopping, and the beds were comfortable. The place is dated, but that didn’t bother me. Breakfast was subpar at best, though it was free. I paid only $100 a night and would definitely stay again. My car had issues on the way back from a trip, so I needed somewhere quick.

We had a blast, especially at the Halloween party, where the decorations were everywhere and we laughed and stayed late. It turned my Fitbit into a strobe light. The staff were courteous, professional, polite, and had real personalities. The room was spotless, with crisp sheets, fresh towels, and AC blasting like a tiny Arctic tornado. The Dove toiletries even made me smell like I have my life together. Breakfast was basic in the best way, with hot coffee and easy choices. I grabbed a Krispy Kreme donut to go like a legal heist and had zero regrets. The location works well, near outlet stores and every chain restaurant you can name, and it was easy to park, unload, and relax. Great food and amenities, clean rooms, and a friendly team. I’d send friends, family, and that one coworker who needs a vacation. We’ll be back. Five stars. Book it.
