Motel 6 Barstow, CA

The location was handy, close to the highway, but both rooms were disgusting. I didn’t take photos of the first one, which was no better than the second. The bathroom light was out, there was a terrible smell, cigarette burns in the blankets, bodily fluids on the sheets, and strands of hair in the fridge. Also, they don’t give refunds.

The rooms looked fairly clean at first glance, but there were lots of bugs. Roaches were in the microwaves, and I’d never seen a giant cockroach in Cali before. We had to chase two out of our room in one day. Noise was another constant problem. Couples regularly screamed at each other and threw things off the balcony, dogs were always off leash, and cars came through the lot laying on their horns at 3am.

The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable, and housekeeping came on time to clean every other day for extended stays. There’s a fridge and microwave, and my dog loves it here. The pool is nice too, though I wish they’d keep it open until 9 pm in summer instead of closing at 7 pm. Some Motel 6 beds are hard and worn out, so this one was a welcome change.

The blankets had stains and burn holes in them. The rooms at the Motel 6 on Commerce are nicer, though the pool there is worse than this one.
