Storybook Inn & Suites

We liked the place enough to come back the next weekend, this time with my grandson. He's very particular and a bit of a germaphobe, but he loved it. The staff were helpful, our room was clean and had everything we needed, and the woman at the desk gave us useful information about the area when we first checked in. It may look a little dated, but I found it charming. The indoor pool wasn't open, which was my one complaint. We brought our own coffee maker on the second visit, which I'd suggest if you drink coffee. My boyfriend and I found Storybook Inn on a spontaneous trip to go up MT Washington. It was only $100, and Storyland is just up the road, with Dairy Queen right across the street.

The indoor pool was nice for my grandson and son, and the grounds were clean and pleasant. We had a nice corner room, and it seemed like every room had its own patio. The room smelled a little musty and the building was dated, as you might expect with an older place, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'd stay again. I had hesitated because of some of the reviews, but the person at the front counter was excellent. This isn't a chain or a high-end resort.

The hostess was so accommodating when we arrived late, bringing us extra towels and a cot and helping with whatever our family needed. The kids had a good time here, especially in the indoor pool. The outdoor pool and hot tub weren't working. It's a cute hotel and handy if you're going to Storybook land.

I wouldn't recommend this motel. The tub was dirty enough that I skipped showering, and the rooms looked like they hadn't been updated in decades. I also found an exposed electrical cord for the A/C while packing up. I'm glad my son hadn't been playing with it. The outdoor pool appears to have been closed for years. The indoor pool was okay, but the hot tub wasn't working either. I'd read the reviews before arriving, but still wasn't happy with the place. Spend a little more and stay at the Grand.
