We had a nice, quiet stay, and the front desk and housekeeping staff were attentive and very kind. Our room was well appointed, though pretty small. The hotel is close to the river, and you can walk to several downtown spots. There’s a shuttle too. We got lucky with the Mardi Gras parade passing along the street in front: we could watch from the street or stay in our room. A small convenience area sold water, and there’s a full restaurant on site, though I didn’t get to try it.

Being just a short walk from the Mississippi River and downtown sights and restaurants made it easy to explore Baton Rouge. We also liked having a restaurant and bar in the building for a meal or drink close by. Our room was comfortable and clean, with a coffee maker and free Wi-Fi, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Hotel Indigo Baton Rouge Downtown by IHG has a modern feel with details that suit historic Baton Rouge. We really enjoyed our visit and found it a comfortable, well-run base in the city.

The valet problem disrupted my afternoon more than anything else. At checkout I requested my car and was told it had been booted and ticketed. I was left waiting while they worked out what happened, and it took over an hour to get the vehicle back. The manager apologized and said I’d receive 20,000 IHG points for the trouble, but I still haven’t received them. An apology without the promised follow-through doesn’t settle things. I also wasn’t given any IHG Diamond Elite benefits at check-in, including breakfast or a welcome amenity. I had to ask the next morning before they gave me a breakfast voucher. Then, at checkout, I saw the restaurant had charged me for the breakfast that was supposed to be included. I went back to the restaurant staff to have it removed, and I might have paid it if I hadn’t checked the bill. I stayed two nights earlier this week, and as someone who spends at least 50 nights a year at IHG hotels, this was one of my most frustrating stays in a long time.

Breakfast was the biggest letdown. There weren’t many choices, and it wasn’t open at 6:30 a.m., so we went to another hotel for Starbucks. The gym was clean but small and lacked basic weights, which made a proper workout difficult. Still, the rooms were fresh, clean, and comfortable, with solid beds. Valet was quick and efficient, and Aaron was consistently on point. The hotel is dog friendly, and everyone we met was relaxed and welcoming with our two small dogs. Having a restaurant and bar on site was handy after a long day. The staff were friendly from the moment we arrived, and the stay was decent overall.

We loved staying here. The view was incredible, the rooms were great, and the appliances were cute. Staff were so kind, and everything downtown was an easy walk. Valet cost almost the same as self parking nearby, so it felt well worth it. We were in town for my husband’s job and squeezed in some vacation activities when we had time.
