FairBridge Inn Express Baton Rouge

We needed a cheap, dog-friendly place close by for one night while our camper was being serviced during my husband's work trip. Big mistake. The parking lot was full of loiterers who looked obviously on drugs, and the front desk man warned us not to park the camper out front because these were “not good people.” On the stairs, we found a dirty crack pipe. It was still there two days later, even though I had a newborn baby with me. We got the camper parts quickly and left two days early. The room was filthy, and a desk with broken-off legs had been staged to look intact. A day after checkout, I got a call saying they would charge us for the desk damage, which we did not cause. When I refused to pay, the man said they'd never rent a room in that condition and threatened a police report. Other reviews make that claim seem false. I said I'd contact a lawyer. Even sleeping outside would be better. EDIT: He tried to charge my card over $500, and after I refused and reported it to chain management, he successfully took $75. They will steal your money.

The parking lot made us uncomfortable. The people hanging around there were the most undesirable, and we got approached whenever we went to the car for our things or took the dog out. The attendant barely spoke. Inside, all the towel racks and the toilet paper holder had broken off, the cabinets were sticky and dirty, and there was no lightbulb in the exhaust fan over the kitchen. There wasn't even a chair at the desk where we could sit to eat. I probably wouldn't have stayed if I'd known, and I won't stay at this location again.

Check-in took under two minutes, and the room was very clean. We only needed one night before a morning exam, and for that purpose, you can't beat the price.

Both beds were filthy. We pulled off layer after layer of sheets and found things tucked into the little holes in the beds, and there were bedbugs too. It was disgusting. I called the front desk, but they said they couldn't do anything because the cleaners were coming the next day. The stains on the sheets looked like they'd been there for weeks. I had to sleep in a chair for five hours, and now my back hurts badly. Don't come here. One star.
