They worked out a pretty good rate for me while I waited for the agency to help cover the room. I did have an issue with my bank card being compromised after I used it to pay. In the older rooms, the doors sit a few inches too high, so you can see outside underneath them. The family also owns other hotels down Beckley, and those are nicer for the price.

The room was dirty when we arrived, and the bathroom door was broken, as if someone had slammed their head through it. There was a chunk missing from the bottom of the entrance door, so cold air kept coming in, and the heater didn’t work at all. I ended up buying two heaters for $40 each just to keep the room warm. I came to Michigan for about a month and had spent the first two weeks at a friend’s place with my dogs, all of them doing fine. On our first day at this hotel, my dog began showing signs of parvovirus. The vet confirmed my nine-week-old puppy had it, and nothing could be done to save him. I believe parvovirus is present around this hotel, in our room, possibly other rooms, and outside. I travel for work, and this was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. If you have a dog, don’t stay here. I don’t think they clean well enough to contain or eliminate the virus.

We were working out of town, and our boss booked two rooms for two of us because the rate was cheap. We checked for bugs and cleanliness as soon as we got in. Some towels and pillows were old, though there were new ones too. All in all, it was a decent night, thanks.

I only got a brief look at this budget motel through my job, and the place was nasty from the lobby to the room. There was a dead roach on the bathroom floor, the paint job was sloppy, and plenty of other things looked bad too. Ownership seems to put no money into it. I don’t understand how health officials allow a place like this to operate.
