It was quiet during today’s visit, and the beds were good enough. I don’t usually eat hotel food, so I can’t comment on that. The managers try their best, and for this price it may be the best option in Battle Creek, though other places might be better. The accessible room is tight for someone using a wheelchair, and a person alone might need help moving around. The shower’s height and style aren’t manageable without assistance. Its walk-in shower floor is the wrong tile, very slippery even when dry. The sink and mirror are too high, and the sink seems to be held up only by its plumbing because it wasn’t attached properly. There’s no elevator, so people who can’t manage stairs should ask for a downstairs room or consider a pricier hotel. On past visits, I’ve smelled marijuana coming from one or more rooms. I don’t know whether the occupants were asked to stop, or why it isn’t treated as smoking.
I’ve stayed here before and had good visits, especially when the gentleman handled late night check-in. This time was the opposite. We decided not to stay after the poor treatment and not getting the room we’d paid for. I booked and paid for an Executive King Suite through Priceline on May 24, 2026, but was handed a standard King room. The clerk spent check-in talking and laughing on Bluetooth earbuds and gave poor service. When I politely asked about the suite, I was told, “You get what you get,” and that booking through a third party meant nothing could be done. They didn’t explain beforehand that the suite was unavailable, apologize, offer another room, or refund the price difference. Paying extra for a premium room and receiving a cheaper one without notice is unacceptable. I hope management deals with the service and the misleading room arrangements.
The room felt open and the bathrooms and beds were clean. There was carpet all along the halls, and the location worked fine: not right by the highway, but quick to reach the main roads, with Walmart about a ten-minute drive away. The pool was comfortably warm without too much chlorine, and my three-year-old had a great time. The hot tub was worth using, though a little too hot for toddlers. The pool itself was just right, warm rather than cold. It was a really good stay.
The room was clean and we had no other problems. The manager fixed our cable, and the manager and other staff were polite and pleasant to talk with. Breakfast was great, and the location felt safe and welcoming. We’d reserved a king suite for three people, but it only had sleeping space for two. There was no rollaway bed or other place to sleep like the website photos showed. The manager blamed the third party’s photos, though the Wyndham photos for the king suite we booked showed the same thing. Since we booked through Priceline, they wouldn’t move us to a different room or change the price. I expected some compromise, as other places have accommodated mistakes on their end. They gave us extra bedding for an air mattress we had to buy, but one staff member spoke as if we might steal it and stressed that the bedding would be documented. I understand tracking extra supplies, but the way it was said bothered my husband.
The room was excellent and the hot tub was great, but service fell short. I tried the front desk twice about our late checkout request, which I’d also sent through the app and by text. I called twice as well and got no answer either time. Both calls went to another guest’s room, and that guest said it was the third time they’d been contacted. Staff need to pay closer attention.
