Fairfield Inn by Marriott Battle Creek

We were there for a family picnic, and the front desk staff member was attentive and polite. She showed us where everything was in the hotel and gave us a list of activities outside. Outstanding job, young lady.

I expected a worse stay, and the front desk staff were friendly. But they need retraining on guest safety, especially about reading contact and room details aloud in the lobby. I came to town overnight for work. The well-lit parking lot was appreciated, but the side curtains that block light were just decorative and wouldn’t move, so I had to get creative to keep the light out while sleeping. Those curtains need replacing. Also, wouldn’t a sprinkler above the bathroom light risk an electrical fire? Some questionable senior and executive level decisions in this place bring down the quality.

My husband and I stayed one night in December for our second anniversary, and it wasn’t a good experience. There weren’t any good restaurants in the area, and no attractions were open. In the middle of the night, someone siphoned gas from our vehicle using a ballpoint pen in the bottom of the gas tank. The hotel didn’t catch it on camera. There was poor lighting in the lot and no security cameras there, which left me feeling they didn’t care about guest safety outside. I don’t feel safe staying here and probably won’t return.

The room we rented last night was very clean, and they were washing windows both days. The staff were courteous and let us check in two hours early. I’d booked a second night, but our circumstances changed, and both the manager and assistant manager let us cancel that extra day. I expected a late checkout fee, but they said there wouldn’t be one. Their customer service impressed me, and I’d recommend this hotel if you’re in Battle Creek MI.
