The hosts were so kind, flexible, and accommodating, and the location made our getaway wedding weekend feel magical. For a northern Minnesota wedding where your family and close friends can stay together in whimsical, rustic cabins, we couldn't recommend this lake resort more.

People travel from all over the country, often from big cities, to join the retreats my nonprofit has hosted at The Hideaway at Xanadu. They're always wowed by how beautiful and peaceful the island is, and the place has never disappointed us. The main house has seven lovely bedrooms: six with private bathrooms, plus a bunk room with four twin beds that's great for kids. There are also lots of shared hangout spaces. The kitchen has everything you'd need for a big meal, plenty of fridge and freezer room, and a dining table that seats around 25. The house feels like a historic cabin while still having updates like air conditioning and comfortable beds. The island is magical, with boats, floaties, a swim raft, and a dock available to use. We also hold retreat classes and events in the renovated barn on the property. It's a showstopper. Nicole, the owner, is communicative, helpful, and welcoming. I'd highly recommend Xanadu for a group staying in the house, a family in a cabin, or even one person in the tiny house.

I had an amazing time at Xanadu island for my older brother's wedding this past weekend. The houses are beautiful and well kept. A few of the water toys could use attention: some kayaks, life jackets, and the pontoon paddle boat were missing important parts, in disrepair, or too dirty to use. Aside from that, it was a 10/10 stay, and I'd absolutely come back.

The cabin was good, the lake was beautiful, the fishing was excellent, and the other guests were really nice. It was stormy and blustery while we were there, though, which made it harder to fully enjoy the available amenities.

We had everything we needed and more for our small wedding at The Hideaway at Xanadu. The cabins were stocked with all sorts of things, from spices to serving trays. We spent a long weekend with friends and family and then held a small wedding for 40 people. Nicole and her staff did a great job coordinating on the day, decorating and cleaning so our reception could come to life. The lake was crystal clear with a sandy bottom, which we loved. We can't wait to return for anniversaries and more memories.
