The air conditioning worked really well, and the staff listened when problems came up and tried to help. But better preparation could have prevented most of those problems. I hadn’t stayed at the Pine Lodge in over a decade, and this time I had multiple rooms that left a lot to be desired. Some recent changes seemed aimed more at the property than at guests. I noticed cameras, colored perimeter lights, and what I believe are new roofs on a few buildings. There are also new toilet seats in some rooms, but the measurements weren’t right, so this one wasn’t very comfortable to use. The ice machine seemed to have ice, but its outside looked so bad I didn’t want to fill the bucket, and the vending machine was clearly just for show. The room decorations don’t all have to match, but they’re aged. Replacing them would make the rooms feel fresher and more consistent. A few repairs and a simple paint job might help bring the hotel’s appearance back up to standard.

The bathroom was dirty, and the bed had two quilts thrown on it. We stayed two nights, but housekeeping didn’t replace the towels or rags we’d used the night before or tidy the room the next day. The WiFi kept cutting in and out too. This place sucks, don’t book.

It feels pretty old inside, and the sheets and towels weren’t very clean. The bed was good and really firm, and the water pressure was good. There’s a newer flat-screen TV, though it’s very small. At $48, I don’t think it was really worth it, but there aren’t many choices here.

I’m here for work after a hurricane, and this was the only room available. It smells awful, like rat pee and cigarettes, and I found rat droppings on the counter. I’m four hours from home with nowhere else to stay. I’d never stay here again or recommend it. If I come back this way and this is the only room, I’d buy a tent and sleep in a parking lot. Don’t stay here.

After you pay, there’s no refund, whether you booked one night or paid for a week. My first night, the room was seriously outdated, which I could put up with. But as an electrician here for the shutdown, I saw electrical work that looked like a 10-year-old had done it. The bed had burn marks all over it too. What really set me off was the toilet running every so often. I checked it and found some fat hookrs bloody panties stuffed in the back of the tank. While looking for something to remove them, I found a grown man’s underwear under the sink, full of poop. This place doesn’t deserve a single star or need to be open.
