Super 8 by Wyndham Baxter/Brainerd Area

The one thing going for this place is its location, close to a lot of things. Otherwise, it was horrible, and the price makes no sense for what you get. The rate jumped from $52 to $150 for my son’s tournament in Brainerd, and we expected something better at that price. The rooms were dirty, very dusty, and outdated. The hallway looked like an apartment building from the 1900s and smelled awful, and the shower smelled even worse. Please don’t book here if you’re coming to Brainerd, especially for a child’s tournament.

There was a strong musty smell as soon as I entered the room, like mold, and the place felt dirty and badly kept. It was really unsettling to stay there, and upsetting to think guests are put in rooms that feel so neglected. From my experience, I wouldn’t recommend booking. They don’t give refunds after you book, so keep that in mind and don’t rush into a decision.

Guests seem to be treated like obligations instead of being welcomed, and you don’t get much for what you pay. The manager is very rude and often away from the front desk. I’d stay somewhere else that serves a decent breakfast with fresh food.

The rooms were clean, though they had carpet. Breakfast was decent, and the hotel seemed well managed.
