La Quinta Inn Suites By Wyndham Bay City

The whole place smelled nice, which isn’t something I usually expect from an affordable hotel. There was no odd smell here. The beds were really comfortable, and Q, the guy who checked us in, was sweet and made sure we were looked after. One of the best places we’ve stayed. I highly recommend it.

The rooms were neat and clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But I stayed in several rooms, and most of the doors dragged and were hard to open or close. Two rooms had leaking showerheads, one bathroom light didn’t work, and a toilet seat was peeling. My room key often wouldn’t work either. There was always trash in the parking lot.

Someone used my card to book a room here, so I came in and explained it to the manager. She was helpful about canceling that person’s reservation and getting them out of the room. But then she gave me a no-trespass warning even though I’d done nothing and stayed polite the whole time.

Three friends and I stayed in three different rooms, and each had issues. The rooms or floors smelled damp or musty. Two rooms on separate floors had no working inside door lock, just a fake handle. The TV in my room didn’t work, and one friend’s AC only blew lukewarm air. In Texas summer, that’s no good. I wouldn’t recommend it.
