The Grenville Hotel and Restaurant

By the end of our stay, the Grenville had become a place I'd like to visit every year. Our late-September weekend had perfect weather, and the beach was almost empty. It was relaxing and rejuvenating. We enjoyed the short walk to shore and made use of the beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels from the supply closet. The huge wraparound porch was a treat for breakfast. Meals there were excellent, and the rooms were spacious and well equipped, with superb shower pressure. The staff were always smiling, and owner Harry treated us like family. Our favorite stops were the beach, The Ark restaurant, and the boardwalk, in that order. I'd highly recommend a getaway here with loved ones.

On a warm September evening, the Grenville's huge front porch, pink paint, and gingerbread details looked right at home against its Victorian-era character from the 1890s. We own a house built in the 1760s, so we appreciated the old building. Dinner on the porch was excellent, and our server was friendly, informative, and attentive. The beet salad with Feta had a fresh, balanced, vinegar-forward dressing. The French onion soup was among the best I've had, hearty from the croutons and melted mozzarella, and seasoned with what I think was sherry and Old Bay. My wife loved her Halibut over rice and asparagus. My lamb chops were perfectly seasoned, but a bit undercooked near the bone, where the requested medium rare was quite rare. Three chops also felt a little stingy for the price. Still, it was a very good meal in a lovely setting, suited to a romantic dinner for two or a special gathering with family or friends.

The Grenville exceeded my expectations on quality, service, and pricing. I plan events for a living and pay close attention to behind-the-scenes details, and they handled everything so well. The food was absolutely delicious, the presentation was perfect, and the staff were personable and friendly. I hosted a baby shower for my daughter in July 2025. We saw the space on a quiet day in March, knew it was perfect, and didn't look at any other venues. As the date got closer, I worried about parking for our 65 guests and called at least four times. Each time they reassured me, even about a Sunday in peak season, and there was no parking problem. They never made me feel like a bother. The Grenville is BYOB, and I was concerned we hadn't bought enough champagne for the mimosa bar, since some guests were a bit indulgent. Staff said we had enough, but that someone could run to a local liquor store for more if needed. They were so accommodating and reassuring. Thank you for making it such a memorable event!

The staff alone make me want to come back, and I will! My first stay at the Grenville was great. I had a clean, bright room on the fourth floor, with quiet AC that I could control myself, even at full blast. The beach is right around the corner, and they provide chairs, umbrellas, towels, and badges. I never had trouble finding parking, even in August or when returning late. The rooms must be soundproof: I didn't hear anything from the rooms around me. One night there was a loud party next door, which I could hear as I went in, but nothing came through in my room, even though it was on the party's side. I didn't get to try dinner, though the menu looked great. Thank you, Grenville!
