The Cedar Motel

The employee was incredibly kind, and the hospitality was the best part of our one-night stay with my fiancé and dog. The room was small, but we only needed it for sleeping. It was clean and had a TV, microwave, mini fridge, and stand-up shower. It's a motel by the water, so don't expect top-notch luxury. We did spot a few ordinary water-area bugs in the bathroom, and the window has blinds but no curtain, so you're up when the sun comes in. Those were the only drawbacks, and the positives outweighed them. A 24-hour room has free snacks, toiletries, dog treats and poo bags, plus grilling supplies. The selection was surprisingly good despite how it looks in the photo. There's also a grill area with tables and torches, a fire pit with chairs, and plenty of outdoor space for a dog. It was quiet and felt safe. A bar and grill two doors down has a dog-friendly patio, which was handy. If we came back to the area, we'd stay again. Not the place for luxury, but a good choice if you want kind hospitality and a clean room.

We've been staying at the Cedar Motel in Bayview, OH two to four times a year for several years. We wouldn't choose another motel or hotel. It's peaceful, right on Sandusky Bay and only a quarter mile from the Clemons Boat Ramp. The rooms are consistently tidy and clean, and have also been updated recently. Saundra, the proprietor, and her son take good care of the property and guests. They're kind, respectful, and helpful, and the prices are fair. We enjoy every stay.

The manager was wonderful when my wife had a medical emergency and needed to go to a local hospital. She's a nurse too, and came to our room to check on her. She also arranged for me to stay an extra night in the same room. We'd originally planned just one night before continuing our vacation. The motel itself is clean and well cared for, with a great view of the lake. We'll definitely stay again.

For a one-night road trip stop, the price was excellent, the room was clean, the bed comfy, and the water pressure great. The front desk was really kind and flexible, and had snacks! I'd absolutely recommend it and will come back next time I'm in the area.
