Seagull Bay Motel

We stayed at the end of May and start of June, before the season had really picked up. Some things weren’t open yet, but it also wasn’t crowded. The lakefront setting is lovely, with a small yard, no road between you and the water, and a drop down to the lake. We enjoyed a quiet morning outside watching boats and listening to birds. There’s a path below, though we didn’t have time to explore it on our short trip. The cruise dock is at most a five-minute drive, or walkable if you’re in good shape, though the hill back is a climb. I’d recommend a downstairs room at the back for the lake view, with chairs outside the window and picnic tables nearby. The room was cute, clean, recently updated, and had a Scandi/mid-century feel. The bed was okay, check-in was easy, and the breeze made it a little cool, so bring layers.

Isaac went above and beyond to stay reachable and check in on me. During a snowstorm, he even helped out and cleared snow off my windshield. The updated room was very clean and nice, with a beautiful view, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We’ll absolutely return and recommend Seagull Bay to friends traveling to Bayfield.

We stayed in the cottage, which was clean, comfortable, and nicely updated. Its location by Lake Superior and the Brownstone Trail gives you great views and a scenic walk into town. The marina and a nice little playground are about five minutes away on foot; keep going a bit and you reach downtown shops, restaurants, and the ferry. A perfect, convenient place to stay.

I loved waking up to the sunrise over the lake from the motel patio. Seagull Bay was also close to downtown Bayfield and nearby mountain biking trails. The room was very clean and had a nicely updated feel.
