Palace Inn - Baytown I-10

We ended up buying a non-slip bath mat because the tub was extremely slippery. The TV remote couldn’t adjust the volume, so it stayed loud. One time housekeeping took the towels and washcloths without replacing them, but the issue was sorted out right away after we called. The beds were comfortable, the price seemed reasonable, and the staff were polite and friendly. We had a microwave and mini fridge in the room. They also serve some kind of breakfast in the morning, though we didn’t try it. My husband and I stayed at Palace Inn Baytown after we had to leave home because of mold. It was a good place to stay, and I’d choose it again if I needed a room in town and one was available.

The location is good, but I’d only stay here again if I had no other choice. We were charged twice, and the room was dirty when we arrived. There were cigarette holes in the sheets, the floor needed sweeping, and the place smelled moldy. The jacuzzi tub was dirty, with black specks coming out of it, and the regular bathtub was brown with old dirt, as if it hadn’t been scrubbed. There wasn’t any hand soap in the bathroom, and the smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling.

The jacuzzi tub was awesome, and the front desk person was friendly. It was otherwise a pretty average room, with clean sheets and nothing major to mention. The floors were really dirty, though. Housekeeping needs to do a better job with them and check that guests haven’t left anything behind. Someone had left something in the microwave, and when I opened it, gnats flew out.

The shower had mold, and there was blood on the floor and writing on the bed frame. The light switches were dusty, so it looked like they never get touched. I told the person in the office about the mold, and she said she’d send someone the next day. These are high-contact surfaces and should be sprayed with bleach or another cleaner at least once a week.
