The Grove at Pismo Beach

The breakfast was good, and making our own waffles was a fun part of it. I did miss out on the scrambled eggs since they’d run out by the time I got there. We’re a family of four, and 2 queen beds would’ve suited us better than the 2 full/double beds. Those felt a little too firm, but for one night it was fine. They’re refurbishing the motel, so it should be nicer once that work is done.

We had an AC problem in our room, since it wasn’t cooling, but the staff moved us a few rooms down right away and made it easy. The new room was just as clean as the first. The inn is large and right off the 101 in Pismo Beach, a few miles from the ocean. Our room was very clean, and room service kept on top of everything. Breakfast runs from 6am to 930am, with waffles, eggs, sausage, and the usual breakfast options. It was good enough to get us through the morning. The heated pool is worth using. We enjoyed our stay and would book again.

The housekeepers were really nice, always greeting us and checking whether we needed more towels. We also had a blast in the pool and hot tub, and there’s a good burger place next door where you can get a meal for $10. The room was clean, and you could see they’d made some upgrades, though the place isn’t brand new. It was surprisingly quiet, and I slept pretty well despite the bed being a little lumpy. Breakfast was my only real gripe. A skimpy generic frozen egg burrito and a bagged danish felt like so little that they could’ve added yogurt, fruit, or cereal and milk. I don’t go to Pismo for continental breakfast, though, so it wasn’t a deal breaker. I usually stay in 4-5 star hotels and was there last minute, so I was pleasantly surprised. I’d go back.

The staff were friendly when I called to book and again at check-in. Our standard motel room had been newly renovated, with an updated, spotless bathroom and sink area. Everything felt clean and comfortable. It worked perfectly for a last-minute one-night stay, and we’d stay here again.
