Sleep Inn Beaufort near MCAS

I slept well because the bed was comfortable, and the shower had good pressure and very hot water. Being only a few minutes' drive from Parris Island was useful since I knew I wouldn't spend much time in the room. I was there from 9/9 to 9/12. The room could use updating: the desk was separating, the carpet had stains, and the pocket door wouldn't close properly and seemed ready to fall off its track. Even with the deadbolt locked, the door could still be moved. It's not the Hilton, but not the Motel 6 either.

The one bright spot was the night shift front desk worker. She showed us real Southern hospitality, and we're very grateful to her. The woman at the desk when we arrived around 11pm on Tuesday was also welcoming, but she gave us keys to the wrong room. We were told 213 and couldn't get in, then went back and were switched to a different room. My mom and I were there for my brother's Marine Corps graduation Friday (8/29). Wednesday's breakfast was very limited, the apple juice was empty, and the waffle maker was the best part. If our household of three plus our Marine had been there, we'd have cleared out the breakfast “buffet.” On Thursday afternoon, after Family Day, we found a small amount of cash and a debit card missing. We leave the do not disturb sign up when we travel and prefer housekeeping to come after checkout, regardless of the length of the stay. The man at the front desk said he'd reimburse the cash, though we told him we didn't care about it. Then he searched our room and said he “didn't believe us that it was stolen.” There was so much moisture that clothes in our luggage were damp, and the room smelled very musty, like mildew. I wish I could give this hotel zero stars, but the review form requires at least one. 10/10 do not recommend for anything.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location worked well for Parris Island graduation, with stores and places to eat nearby. There was free breakfast too. But the room smelled, and there was mold on the ceiling, though it looked like they were at least trying to clean it. The bathroom door was broken, but they came right away after we reported it. We also found dead bugs under the beds and dirty sheets. At least the bugs were dead.

We didn't even unpack. As soon as we saw the condition of the hotel and room, we left to stay somewhere else. The carpets and floors sagged and felt uneven, and the whole place smelled like mildew, mold, and hot wet lettuce. There was mold all over the bathroom ceiling, around the light above the bed, and on the lampshades. It felt like a wet basement. The elevators smelled like marijuana, and what I guess were family members of the owners were living there and yelling across the halls. Literally awful. Would not recommend!
