avid Hotel Beaumont

I asked for clean towels and got pushback. The hotel's attitude toward guests felt like nobody cared. I found what looked like bed bug remains around the property, and hard, gritty material on the sheets and towels. There was carpet grain and what looked like drugstore beetles. Linens aren't being changed, based on what I saw, and other reviews raise similar concerns. Cracks and crevices also need sealing, and I think the hotel needs to be treated and shut down until these problems are fixed. The housekeeping manager, ashley, came across as aggressive and lazy. She sat behind the front desk glaring at guests as they came and went instead of doing the job she was hired for. She should be replaced. Maybe ihg should also require proof that animals staying at hotels are on preventive care and have vet care.

Room 110 was cool, clean, and comfortable, with working AC, a mini-fridge, and extra outlets by the bed. The sheets were comfortable, and the bathroom had a roomy walk-in shower with good pressure. There's no grab bar, though the anti-slip floor worked well. In the lobby by the front desk, there's a small market, plus free parking, hot breakfast in the morning, and coffee, tea, hot chocolate, still water, and sparkling water throughout the day. The staff at the desk were friendly and professional, and the service was good for the reasonable rates. The hotel sits right off I-10. Road construction made getting around a pain, though that wasn't the hotel's fault, and the turn to the hotel comes up quickly after exiting, so watch for it. I'd stay again.

The location wasn't great, but it was acceptable. Breakfast was advertised for 6:30-09:30, but it began at 7. By 7:20, they were out of eggs, potatoes on the first day, and sausage. The rooms are very small, and there's no coffee or microwave in the room. The TV guide was spread over two channels, and with no cable instructions, I had to work it out myself.

Ashley at the front desk was the best part of our trip. She was kind, friendly, and really helpful. The gym was clean and well equipped, and breakfast was good as usual. We travel often for my husband's work, and I usually look forward to Avid because it's comfortable and clean. The Beaumont, TX room was a letdown: the bed was clean, but the floor still had the previous guest's food and hair, and the room hadn't been swept, mopped, or properly cleaned. The walls were dirty, the bathroom was gross, and I saw the cleaning lady on her phone several times in one hour when I passed in the hall. Bathroom tiles were loose, the desk was damaged and wobbly, and there was no bathroom fan.
