The lake was the highlight for me. We saw both sunrise and sunset, and the views were unforgettable. There’s also plenty to do in the lodge: free DVD movies, board games, hot tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, plus snowshoes guests can borrow at no charge. The little s’mores building is adorable and comes stocked with kits, checkers, cribbage, and a cozy fireplace. It’s a great base for snowmobilers, and The Crossings restaurant at the top of the hill offers packed lunches to pick up for the ride. The lodge staff were really friendly and accommodating, and the food was fantastic, especially the stuffed wild rice walleye. The onsite restaurant staff seemed a bit irritated and unfriendly, though, which was disappointing. A couple of small things in the building could use attention too: the headboards were dusty, and the stairwell door slams loudly. A soft-close feature would be a nice fix. Still, this place is a dream. We’ll be back!

The restaurant made a real impression on us. Rachel, Paula, and Anna were quick and helped us understand the menu, and all three dinners were delicious. On our last night, my wife ordered Norwegian Chicken and I had the 10 Oz steak. Both were better than we expected, so definitely give those a try. We came to Cove Point for three nights to unplug and relax, and it was just right for that. Everyone we met was friendly and engaged. Abram, Ellie, Don, and Scott at the front desk were great. I had a fun conversation with Abram about swords and my last name, too. We did run into some maintenance trouble in the room we’d booked, but Abram and Ellie acted quickly and moved us to another room without hesitation. All around, a fantastic stay.

Our rental was the Harbor House, one of the separate spots away from the hotel. It had a bad smell every time we walked in. We eventually got used to it, but the odor was still there. Otherwise, the lodge had an amazing view and a great location, close to food and all kinds of hikes.

We woke up to a gorgeous Lake Superior sunrise right outside the bedroom window, and the cabin was so quiet and restful. Our stay at Cove Point Lodge Fjord Southwoods Bunk private cabin was wonderful. Everything felt new and was super clean, and the place was immaculate, warm, and inviting as soon as we arrived. It was a perfect setting for a romantic long weekend. They really had everything covered, and we loved every minute. We’ll definitely return.

We’ve come back a couple of times because we enjoy staying here. The rooms have lovely views, and the hotel sits right on the lake with plenty to do nearby. It feels cozy, and the value is great. The restaurant is a bit spendy, but the food is really good. Every stay has been a 10/10 for us.
