Luxury Penthouse at Bear Paw Lodge

We love staying here, right around halfway up the mountain in Bachelor's Gulch. It’s true ski-in, ski-out, with gorgeous views, and the whole property is very well maintained. After a long day skiing, there are several hot tubs, plus a pool for the kids. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

Beautiful property and fancy Bachelor Gulch amenities, but the guest service was far below standard. We had a nice two-week stay at Bear Paw Lodge, yet I’d warn people not to trust the management staff. I left a gift worth about $100 at the front desk for a friend to collect. It was in decorative packaging with the recipient’s name in bold print. Staff remembered and identified it, but it later “went missing” or “was lost” among the two staff members. I tried every way I could to recover it or get reimbursed. Holly Emery, the assistant manager, and Dan Lipson, the general manager, each spoke with me. Neither apologized, and they said they couldn’t replace the items or reimburse me. It’s unfortunate that this is how Vail Resorts managers treat dedicated guests and handle items left in their care.

A large group of us arrived at Bear Paw Lodge, then unforeseen circumstances meant we had to change our reservation right away. The manager at Bear Paw Lodge and Beaver Creek Resort Properties were very understanding and worked with us so we could still have a great stay in Beaver Creek. The customer service was excellent, and we’ll absolutely look to Beaver Creek Resort Properties for our next visit.

The place itself was clearly very nice, but it seemed understaffed for unusual support needs. Our party waited 1.5 hours for security and support staff to show up and work out how to open the door, because the owner had installed a non-standard lock. The service was seriously lacking when it came to helping us find the place and get settled. Underground parking is a tight squeeze for larger SUVs.
