Hilton Garden Inn Dayton Beavercreek

The location was the main reason I chose this hotel, and it was convenient: close to a large mall, sharing a parking lot with food and drink places, and near a car wash. The TV worked wonderfully, the bathroom was a highlight, and the staff members I spoke with were friendly. They even gave my husband a cookie. The young man who checked us in was friendly too, though he quickly mentioned that members can check in on their phones in a way that strongly suggested we shouldn't bother him at the desk. We stayed three days and never saw housekeeping. The sheets had yellow stains when we arrived, which was disturbing. Luckily, we brought our own pillows, since the ones provided had no support at all. The beds are on the firm side, which I didn't have much opinion about. The bathroom had full-size shampoo and conditioner bottles and a hair dryer, but no tub mat, so it was extremely slippery getting in and out. The room door looked like it once had a mechanism to hold it open, but the other half was broken clean off. It slammed loudly whenever we opened it more than halfway. The luggage carts were disappointing, and the sidewalks and parking lot were poorly maintained. For the entire stay, the sidewalks were covered in snow, though it had only snowed the night before we arrived.

Bree or Bryanna at the front desk was fabulous, super friendly and helpful. We stayed one night, and the location was great. My husband is a travel nurse and we're new to the area. I hate that I won't stay there again. I used points, so technically I didn't lose money, but I still hate having spent them on this visit. We checked in around 8 something and were told dinner ended at 9 and drinks at 10. After we went upstairs to work, my husband came down around 8:30 to order food, but the kitchen was already closed. We then tried to take our son swimming, but the pool door wouldn't work. The employee had to open it and prop it up, saying the card reader hadn't been working properly. Once inside, we saw grossness covering about a quarter of the pool bottom and decided not to swim. We told the front desk, and she called the room to offer breakfast vouchers and suggested using our food and beverage credit on snacks from the shop. I had to contact them after getting the bill because the credit hadn't been applied, though they're correcting it. The room was reasonably clean but needed more attention. The tub wasn't clean by my standards, with mold or mildew around jets that didn't work. The mattresses could be more comfortable, but they were okay.

We could check in early, which was nice, and the room was spacious. The soaking tub took over 40 mins to heat up, and there were no bathrobes despite what the website showed. The shower was lukewarm and we nearly fell getting out. Our bed wasn't level, with our heads lower than our feet. The website also mentioned blackout curtains, but one shade wouldn't come down all the way. The pool was nice but needed cleaning, and there wasn't a hot tub like the photos and website showed. It was okay, but not worth the extra money we paid.

The ladies at the desk, both at night and in the morning, were incredible, genuinely helpful and caring. Best staff I've seen anywhere, and yes, I'd stay again. The bedside light didn't work.
