Hilton Garden Inn Portland/Beaverton

We booked two connecting rooms, and the kids could run between them, which worked out well for our family. The rooms were clean, and the pool and jacuzzi area were well kept. We also had a good time at the bar, and both breakfast and service were great. There was plenty of space and seating in the lobby for hanging out or playing board games.

My car was damaged in a hit-and-run in the parking lot, and the hotel accepted no responsibility. They acknowledged there was damage, and said there were no exterior cameras anywhere, but manager Paula offered nothing, not even points or partial credit toward the stay. That lack of concern made an already distressing situation more frustrating. I was a Diamond tier member, but I’m canceling my membership and won’t stay at another Hilton. The hotel looks inviting at first, but it was nearly empty even though the area was busy and other hotels were booked. It’s expensive and dated, and the back parking lot was filthy, with trash and dog feces everywhere, which we noticed before leaving. There are much nicer, newer places nearby for a fraction of the price. I would not recommend staying here.

Julius at the front desk was friendly and very helpful. The restaurant was nice too, with a weekend buffet and weekday restaurant service. I did hear people talking loudly, but otherwise had no complaints. Very nice hotel, and I’d recommend it.

There are good places to work outside the room, and the gym has more equipment than I’d expect at a similar hotel. The staff make an effort to look after you, and the paid breakfast has enough decent options to get the day started. My room was spacious and surprisingly quiet, though the temperature control was hit or miss. Skip rooms 146, 246, 346, and 446 if you don’t want to look straight at the garbage area. The other rooms I’ve stayed in were much better. It’s a reliable place, and I’d return, just not to the garbage-view wing.
