Extended Stay America Suites Chicago Midway

We arrived around 1:15pm after killing a few hours eating and sightseeing. We had booked through Booking.com and entered an arrival time of 9-10am. The hotel emailed to say they couldn’t promise it, but would try to accommodate us. I know 1:15 was early, and I was fine waiting in the lobby with our bags until a room was ready. Instead, the woman checking us in rolled her eyes. When I said I knew we were early and understood if the room wasn’t ready, she replied, “A little? Ya think? How about a lot?” Then she said we had to leave until check-in. My wife and I had our luggage, and I was wearing a boot for a freshly broken foot. This was beside a highway, not in a neighborhood where we could sit at a coffee shop. We cancelled and went on foot to the Holiday Inn down the road, through the grass because there were no sidewalks, with my broken foot. The Holiday Inn staff were kind and checked us in normally. I’ve never been treated like that anywhere. It was the opposite of hospitality or accommodating an injured guest. SAD!

There are roaches, and the general manager is extremely rude and has an attitude. If you order food, it’ll get stolen. They also give some guests one-time discounts for five-star reviews, so it’s hard to know what’s genuine. :(

One of the cleanest hotels I’ve stayed at, and the staff are great with customers. They take mess seriously, and if there’s a problem or you need something, they handle it right away. If you want a long-term stay with a homey feel, stay here!

Affordable prices, welcoming staff, and a clean property made this Extend stay feel different from the usual. This location really represents the brand well.
