I was already stressed after getting stranded by SW Airlines and having to spend the night at Holliday Inn. I needed to leave for the airport at 6 AM, before breakfast started, so I wasn't in the best mood. Then Barbara at reception greeted me with such genuine warmth that it turned my morning around. She showed me how to use the coffee machine and even brought out a couple of muffins from the kitchen. Whatever the airport had in store after that, I was grateful to start the day with her kindness.
The best part of our stay was Ms Barbara at the front desk. She welcomed us back from a very late show with a warm smile and a joke, then called the shuttle herself when my dad and I needed to catch our 5 AM flight. While we waited, we chatted, and she even came around the desk to hug me goodbye and wish me safe travels. She was so helpful, kind, and professional. I'll remember her and hope she's on shift if we stay here again. We were in Chicago January 10-11, 2026 for a business trip with the band. The hotel is close to the airport and has a shuttle, with lots of restaurants nearby and downtown just outside the area. It was clean, the beds and pillows were super comfortable, and the simple continental breakfast tasted good. Thanks so much, Ms Barbara. If you're considering staying here, book it. We felt in marvelous hands. Until next time, Chicago!
Barb made my stay even better with her friendly, professional manner and the care she showed for guests' comfort. She paid attention to the details and went out of her way to help. My room at the Holiday Inn Express was clean, comfortable, and well kept, so I had a relaxing visit. Thanks to Barb and the whole team for the hospitality. I'll be back!
The second part of my stay was even better because breakfast had bacon, my favorite. The food was hot, plentiful, and kept stocked. There was yogurt, different meats on different days such as turkey sausage, pork sausage, and bacon, plus squared potatoes, biscuits and gravy, folded-looking eggs, fresh fruit, oats, pancakes, toast, bagels, cinnamon rolls, muffins, and more. The one thing I didn't like was finding somebody's earpiece in a cup by the coffee area in room 429. Normally I'd take off a star for that, but I enjoyed the stay too much to let it ruin their reputation. I wanted a manager to know. I was in town for my uncle's funeral, and the hotel helped take some of the sting away. I'd first stayed April 23-26. It was clean and quiet, the customer service was amazing, and parking was okay, though Diamond Elite members usually have a spot available. Stores are nearby if you want to shop, but not close enough to walk to. The hotel sits in a little cul-de-sac with the Marriott and about three other nice hotels. When a flight issue meant I had to spend another day in Chicago, I called here first because I'd liked my original stay and the airport shuttle is free. It comes promptly on the hour. The hotel is about ten minutes from the airport, and the shuttle drops you at departures. I flew Southwest from Midway and was glad it let us out right at the door for SW.
We had a restful, comfortable stay, and the complimentary breakfast was a nice extra. The pancakes are worth trying, and the oatmeal doesn't taste like glue paste. Cleanliness is clearly a focus throughout the building and rooms, with sanitizer in the elevator and cleaning supplies in the lounge. Tea, water, and coffee are available around the clock, and the shower pressure was the best we've experienced. The no-pets rule except for service dogs, along with a fully non-smoking policy, helps keep rooms free of pet hair and allergens. I'd recommend this Midway Holiday Inn Express.
