Bedford Plaza Hotel - Boston

Breakfast was the weak spot. It ran from 6:30 to 10, but the food was gone by 9. There was cold cereal, toast, small muffins, Activa yogurt, and a waffle maker. The syrup and milk were gone by 8:30, and yogurt was the only protein. I saw maybe a dozen people during the week. I should have walked to McDonald's for breakfast, but it was below zero. The room was spacious and stayed warm even when it was below 0 F outside. It had a microwave and pod coffee, a big desk with several outlets at desk level, and reasonable Wi-Fi. The TV had cable through Roku, but you needed both remotes for power, hotel content, and the 12 channels. Movies were on Roku. Towels were very scratchy, maybe a D-minus. Staff were friendly, though it took two days to get the drain working. The dining common areas needed a jacket. The pool in the atrium by dining never opened. It’s an older hotel that needs renovation. Parking cost $8 a night in the garage or $5 in the lot. A few restaurants and shops are within walking distance, and McDonald's is next door. For the money, it wasn’t bad.

The bed was comfortable, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The pool was closed, and parking cost extra. The bathroom was gross and had no facecloths; the decor was old and the rugs were nasty. The continental breakfast was a joke: a few slices of bread, six yogurts, a gallon of milk in a mini fridge, and three cereals in dispensers. This place is a dump.

It was cheap, the staff were nice, and the place was clean enough. The rooms themselves were fine, but the hotel was worn down and outdated, with a broken elevator. We stayed for two weeks and nearly had to beg the front desk for towels. We asked for clean towels and sheets, but they never arrived. Breakfast was lackluster, just a waffle maker, stale cereal, and maybe some yogurt. The ice machines, vending machine, elevator, and pool didn’t work.

The rooms were large, and it stayed quiet until the weekend, when I could hear a couple arguing on the floor above. The pool looked nice, though I didn’t try it. Breakfast was really my only issue. They served waffles every day, and I’d hoped for some variety, maybe eggs and bacon at least once.
