The building I live in flooded after a sprinkler pipe burst, so my boyfriend and I stayed here while we tried to sort things out. We expected to add a second night when it became clear we couldn’t go home. The evening desk clerk, who wore a Carhartt hat, told me we could keep the same room and just pick up new key cards the next day. I asked whether my boyfriend could collect them because he finishes work hours before I do. The clerk wrote down his name, which was already on the reservation, and said that should be fine. The next day, though, Jay refused to let him into our room or give him a key. Jay had been there for the conversation the night before, but said my boyfriend couldn’t get in because he hadn’t booked the room. I called and explained what had been agreed. I work long shifts as a registered nurse, so my boyfriend would have been stuck in the lobby for 3.5 hours until I finished work, while all our things were inside the room we’d paid for. Jay said we were meant to check out that morning and check in again the next day, and that I had to be there for the keys. He also asked me to complete an emailed authorization form with my credit card number for incidentals, which disrupted my work. The room itself had issues too. We switched rooms three times on the first day: the heater didn’t work properly in the first, and the nightstand fell off the wall in the second. There was dark mold all over the shower, and it was gross. The hotel also felt older and more run-down than the Hampton Inn in Manchester. After two nights here, we still needed somewhere to stay, so we spent several nights at the Hampton Inn in Manchester, which was much nicer.

I only stayed one night because my work travel plans changed, even though the reservation was for two. I checked out before the stated checkout time, and the front desk agent said they’d need to speak with the manager about adjusting the booking. Nothing came of it, and nobody from management contacted me. I was charged for both nights despite using the room for just one. I also heard nothing after I contacted Hilton's corporate office. Management didn’t seem willing to recognize that travel plans can change, and I felt they didn’t value my business or want to communicate. I wouldn’t spend your time or money here.

Hampton inn & suites has never contacted me directly, so I’m not sure what to make of the response here either. When they did respond, it was simply that all hotels charge incidentals, which missed my point. Clerks shouldn’t quote different amounts, and I was left out in the cold despite being a paying customer. I understand incidentals and a returned $20-per-night expense, but being told there were no incidentals and then facing a $500 charge on arrival, on top of the room price and tax I’d already paid through priceline, was misleading. I was told the total incidental amount would be $100, then asked for $250 per night. That feels like very poor business ethics and a complete lack of morals. I can’t recommend the place.

I booked this hotel because it was conveniently close to the airport. While I was already on a flight to Florida, I realized I’d left my wedding and engagement rings in the bathroom. My husband contacted the staff right away, and they had already secured the rings in a safe and kept them there until I got home five days later. I’ve got a new level of trust in this hotel now. Though, haha, I have to blame the lotion in the room for smelling so good that I took my rings off in the first place. Looking forward to staying again!

Serena was great with me and my family, and her customer service really stood out. She was patient and open with a woman in the lobby who was being mouthy about some kind of check-in issue involving a child. Serena deserves a raise. Great job!
