I have a well-behaved service dog, but the owner refused to let her in, saying she was too large. He seemed ready to let me stay until he saw her. Two people can book a room, but apparently my dog, who’s about half a person’s size, is suddenly too big. When I came in, one of the women said, “Oh, he has a large dog,” so it sounds like they may have denied service dogs before. I’ll contact the ADA in the morning. The owner was also extremely rude and abruptly told me to get out of the lobby because of my belongings. This place probably ought to go out of business. If he denies me again when I pass through, I’ll sue the hell out of them.

The rooms were dirty and the beds uncomfortable. I only realized how bad the situation was when I went outside to get things from the car and a homeless man came over asking for money. Empty alcohol containers were scattered around the parking lot, and the whole town looked trashed. I was staying with a group.

If you’re hoping for a full breakfast, this isn’t the place. The rooms weren’t very clean either, there was hair left on the shower walls by the previous guest.

The staff and other people there were great, and for the price and location the breakfast was decent: cereal, milk, coffee, Sunny D, oatmeal and yogurt from 7-9am. It’s safe and cheap, pet-friendly, has a laundry room and an ice machine, and there were no bugs. Bring your own drinks, water and food, since there are no vending machines. The rooms are pretty lackluster and a bit dirty. I found old takeout in the fridge, and the sheets were wrinkled like someone had slept in them.

There’s a coin-operated laundromat right across the street, so I was able to get my laundry done. I feel good about passing through New Mexico.
