Casablanca Inn

I couldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone concerned about their health. When I tried to stay, none of the rooms they offered were clean. They showed signs of pests, and I developed a rash after less than an hour there. The staff inspected the pest droppings I showed them on the mattress. At the time, they blamed a third-party bedding supplier, then the business later responded to my review confrontationally, saying there were no visible defects. The owners seemed to suggest I’d made it up, even though I’d posted a photo of the dirty mattress with droppings. My room smelled strongly of cigarettes and had stains and signs of bed bugs. I asked for another room right away. Staff quickly showed me two alternatives, but one also smelled of cigarettes. The third had ripped and stained bedding and signs of damage, so we chose to stay elsewhere. The hotel apologized and said it used a third-party bedding provider and didn’t usually wash the bedding on site. They said they’d honor a refund if we contacted Expedia, took my keycard so we couldn’t stay, and we left. But after I spoke to Expedia, they said the hotel wouldn’t honor the refund after all. I appreciated how quickly staff offered alternatives, but none were clean, and they had visually inspected the problem. I hadn’t planned to review the place because I understood they were short-staffed for cleaning. But an employee had agreed to the refund, so I couldn’t understand the change of mind. I’d chosen the hotel based on its reviews, though many Expedia reviews appeared to use the same name, Ahmed/Solo Traveler, and seemed likely to come from one person, possibly an owner. I’d leave this out and stay somewhere else.

The woman who works there charged me a fair price one day, then the next day the man in flip-flops charged me extra, even though it wasn’t a weekend. He’ll apparently take more than the room costs and keep the difference. He’s a terrible person to have running a business. Even if you’re not checking out, he comes banging on the door at 11 a.m., yelling that it’s checkout time. Then he just says sorry after you tell the person who checked you in that you’re staying another day.

The outside looks pretty ghetto, but inside it’s really nice and clean. For the price, it’s hard to beat. Lots of fast food places and a grocery outlet nearby too 👍🏽🙌🏽😊

It’s been recently renovated and feels clean and comfortable, with a pleasant atmosphere. We hope they keep it up at this level. A hairdryer and clothes hanger in the room would make things more convenient.
