The breakfast attendant was the one bright spot. She worked hard to keep things in order and help guests, even as food ran out. That wasn’t her fault, and I appreciated her attitude. The rest of our family stay was uncomfortable. Our room smelled really bad when we arrived, like it hadn’t been aired out or the odor was coming from the carpet or ventilation. Breakfast was skimpy too, with no yogurt or waffles, and the juices tasted poor. The area felt rushed and wasn’t stocked well. At about 5:30 in the morning, loud noise from the room next door woke us through the connecting door. It sounded like sexual activity, which was extremely uncomfortable with our daughter there. The doors seem to let a lot of sound through. This wasn’t the level of comfort or quality we usually expect.

That little market downstairs was handy, and the room was a decent size for a reasonable price. The staff we met were friendly, too. But the room looked tired and not very clean. Wallpaper was peeling, there seemed to be possible mold under the window, and the bathroom needed a much better cleaning. Its doors were noisy and hard to open and shut. The included breakfast was appreciated, though it wasn’t very good. Shared salt and pepper, condiments, and milk didn’t feel sanitary; I would have preferred individual packets. During the snowstorm, a bad draft made the room cold all night. We kept turning up the heat, but the thermostat reset itself to 71. The maintenance and cleanliness problems made the stay less enjoyable despite the other positives.

The room itself was excellent, but I got no sleep. People upstairs started stomping around before 11 pm and kept at it until 8 the next morning. I went to the desk around 1 am, and a young man was sent up to ask them to quiet down. They soon got even louder. Earbuds didn’t block it. When I complained again in the morning, they apologized and said they’d talk to their manager. They gave me a small bag of snacks and a bottle of water for the lost sleep. I’d already told them the night before that I’d made a 12 1/2-hour trip to NY. It was adults making the noise, not kids. Pretty disappointing. I went there to rest and probably wouldn’t stay again.

The pool hasn’t been open for at least seven years, and the ice machines have gradually disappeared. Now you have to ask the front desk for ice. The parking lot has huge potholes and isn’t cleared of snow in winter, which is dangerous. Rooms and hallways are badly run down, and breakfast keeps getting worse each time I visit. The staff try to help, but the owners don’t give them much to work with. I travel a lot and stay at SpringHill Suitas around the country. This Brookhaven location on Long Island, NY, has been my worst Marriott experience by far. I have business nearby and not much choice, so I keep ending up here. It’s always disappointing. I don’t know how it’s still branded by Marriott.

We loved everything here. The rooms were spacious and clean, the facilities were good, and the service was quick and accurate. I’ve stayed at several hotels with my family these past few days for personal reasons, and this was easily the best in every way. It followed the Marriott standard. ✨✨✨
