Super 8 Motel - Beloit

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and this is a comfortable Super 8. Apart from B&Bs, it's the only hotel in town. I'd skip breakfast: the free spread was awful, the area was messy and disgusting, and nothing was being replenished. There was no coffee at 8 am, and the desk employee didn't seem interested in getting more. You get what you pay for, I guess. Come for the clean rooms, not the breakfast.

We stayed here every hunting season for 16 years, but service went downhill after the new owners took over. They removed the breakfast room, so guests had to eat the little breakfast offered in the lobby. The customer service was the worst.

The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean, but for what we paid the stay was underwhelming, maybe even borderline unacceptable. The place looks very dated, and some things are broken. Our parking lot door wouldn't open from outside, though luckily there was a second door from the inside hallway. The main outlet by the beds that powered the lamps didn't work at all. The free breakfast was a joke: it was low on food when I arrived, and I couldn't find staff anywhere, including at the front desk. They had egg and cheese omelettes and biscuits and gravy, but the eggs were cold and there was only one biscuit left. The coffee was good, and there were packaged pastries and yogurt. Also, the Google listing at the time we booked claimed there was a hot tub and showed a nice gym in the photos. Neither was actually there. It's a small town without many options, so maybe I'm being too critical, but this was overpriced for what we got.

Rooms were clean and the staff friendly. Breakfast was fine, and I'm not sure what people expect at a Super 8. Get there early if you want eggs. They had eggs, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, oatmeal, toast, and so on.
