The room was cozy, clean, and comfortable, and the hotel has so much charm. With the Christmas decorations, it felt like a Hallmark movie Bed & Breakfast. I came up for a couple of days for a funeral, and Jen, the hotel manager, was incredibly kind and accommodating. My mother has a disability, so we needed a downstairs suite. Jen arranged that without any trouble. I’d stay here again and highly recommend it for its real hometown hospitality.

It was cold outside, around 25 degrees, and our room felt chilly too. The front desk person brought us a small space heater, though, and that made it cozy. The room itself was clean and spacious, the shower had really good water pressure, and breakfast had a nice variety of cereal, oatmeal, coffee, breads, and sweets. I’d definitely stay again.

There's plenty of parking, and the hotel is next to the police station, so it feels like a very safe spot. The wraparound porch is nice, and the floors have been remodeled. It’s a pretty hotel built in 1831, with its original banister and doors. The central air controls several rooms at once, so you can’t set it individually. A groundskeeper stays overnight and is on call. They have a small snack breakfast, and there are restaurants nearby. Most shops in the area close by 4 p.m. It’s not especially kid-friendly, and there’s no swimming pool.

Jennifer made a long drive and an uncertain arrival time feel easy. She kept in touch about the weather and told me not to worry about checking in. When another guest and I arrived at the same time, she was waiting for us, knew our names, and was glad we’d made it. That kind of personal service is hard to find at a chain hotel. I’d read the reviews before booking, and they were right about all the personal touches in the room and at breakfast, especially around the holidays.

The staff were friendly and helpful, with personal attention you don’t get at chain hotels, and the price was excellent for what you get. This place is really unique, with an amazing structure and an interior that’s been kept up or upgraded nicely. The holiday decorations made the stay more fun. They’d thought of good details too, from the bathroom toiletries to breakfast choices for different dietary needs.
