Candlewood Suites Bemidji

The cleaning staff kept everything tidy and very clean. I also saw the maintenance man spreading a little salt for safety after some slippery snow fell. The day shift front desk attendant was really nice and was out shoveling when the lobby was quiet. It was clear they cared about customers.

I liked having a kitchen in the room, but there weren't enough utensils. Customer service varied: some staff were helpful, while an older lady seemed uninterested in helping. I had to ask twice for the room to be refreshed before it was done. The TV in the outdoor grill area was loud and kept playing into the early morning, so I called the front desk at 3:30 AM to ask them to turn it off. There are only two hotels in the area, and this was the one I stayed at.

We needed somewhere that would let us bring our yellow lab, and this worked great. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff were very accommodating. We only stayed one night, but it would work well for a longer visit. We'll definitely come back when visiting our Bemidji State kids.

We couldn't stay here because a tornado had come through Bemidji a week and a half earlier and the hotel had been destroyed. When we pulled into the lot, Ryan seemed confused to see us, but greeted us at the front door and explained what had happened. He went out of his way to recommend another hotel for me and my family. We contacted IHG to sort out the problem, but they blew us off. Ryan then stepped in and took care of it right away. I'm very grateful to Ryan and his staff for that customer service. He knows how to look after guests, and it shows. If we're back in Bemidji, MN, we'll stay here once the location is rebuilt or renovated. I highly recommend it then.
