Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Bend, OR

I planned to stay just one night on the way to Crater Lake, but the mountains and attractions I spotted while driving up state highway 20 convinced me to extend the trip right when I checked in. It was my first visit to Oregon, and my first time at Country Inn and Suites. The room really surprised me: it was huge, with a layout unlike any hotel room I've seen in the United States. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the place fit my needs perfectly.

The bed was incredibly comfortable, the AC and heater worked, and breakfast was tasty. It's also accessible to the Forum Shopping Center. This was my first stay here, and I was happy with it. In our room, the bathroom door opened toward the toilet and nearly touched the seat, making the space too tight. If someone were using the toilet and forgot to lock the door, another person could swing it open quickly and possibly hurt them.

The breakfast was awful. They had bagels but no bread, and that was all I had. The pool and hot tub were closed, and the rooms didn't have body lotion. They only provided chilled drinking water, and I had to ask the front desk for bottles every time. Basic things were missing.

The hotel feels old and a bit run-down, and the food was only mediocre. The location is awkward too, tucked behind a lot of businesses, with no real place to walk a dog. The employees were excellent and pleasant, though. The young man looking after the breakfast area kept it spotless.
