Holiday Inn Express Benicia by IHG

The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the breakfast was better than what many Bay Area hotels in the same price range serve. The rate itself is pretty reasonable for the area, and the rooms have plenty of space, a microwave, and a fridge. Some rooms could use renovation, especially the carpets. Still, I had a great stay.

The room felt cold at night because there wasn’t a proper blanket. When we went to the desk to ask for one, the in-room phone wasn’t working, and the hotel could only give us a very thin mattress cover. We ended up buying our own blanket for the rest of the stay. Privacy was another problem: our room faced the corridor, and the blackout curtains were too small to close fully. The sheer curtain didn’t stop people walking past from seeing inside, so we tied the curtains together ourselves. This was a disappointing stay. Basic bedding, privacy, and a working way to reach the front desk were missing.

Alexis at the front desk and Emie in the kitchen made sure we were looked after, and the customer service was great. Guests can also use the gym and laundry room. I’d stay here again.
