Knotty Pine

The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and check-in was friendly and easy. The free breakfast was one reason we picked this hotel, but at check-in we found out it was just a brown bag with a granola bar, apple juice, and a fruit cup for each of us. There wasn’t even a spoon for the fruit, and the coffee in the room came without cream or sugar. The TV reception was so fuzzy it couldn’t be watched. I’d try another hotel next time we’re in Bennington. The Fuji sushi restaurant next door was delicious and affordable!

There is no continental breakfast, despite what the online listing says. We got in at 12:30 am after driving for more than 24 hours and were put in a dirty room with someone else’s dirty sheets. I had to clean the tub myself because it was full of hair. The second room was very moldy, and both rooms were dusty with spiders and webs. My husband offered more money for a better room, but they insisted they were full even though they weren’t. Our “grab bag” had yogurt that was 21 days expired and half-and-half that had spoiled two months earlier. The innkeeper deleted her messages and didn’t stick to the price she’d originally agreed with my husband. She was rude and smug, and seemed proud they were a “cheap” motel. The Creole housekeeper was the only person there who smiled and was friendly. Bring a translator if you aren’t bilingual.

The soap setup in the bathtub was wonderful. After that great bathroom experience, I noticed a nice picture of a cow. No stains or bed bugs, and overall it was a great stay. I’d definitely come back.

While we were out, the housekeeper let himself into our room with a master key, even though we hadn’t given permission. We’d left personal things out that other people didn’t need to see, and our “Yes please” sign asking for room cleaning wasn’t up. We also found a few things where they shouldn’t have been. I wouldn’t come here if you don’t want someone entering your room without permission.
