Holiday Inn Express Bentleyville

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the place was clean, but the facilities felt more like a Best Western motel. The outside looks updated, while inside it didn’t feel modern, with vinyl floors and the like. There are no suites, and the largest option is a double-queen executive room. Breakfast was mediocre, and the bread wasn’t fresh. I usually choose Holiday Inn for clean, modern rooms, but this one didn’t meet my expectations. I wouldn’t come back unless it gets remodeled.

There were free drinks and popcorn in the lobby, along with the usual complimentary Holiday Inn Express breakfast, and the hotel itself was fine. The one problem was a new staff member who was extremely rude. She didn’t greet us when we arrived and seemed annoyed to talk to us or do any work. Train her better or let her go, and this place would be perfect. Otherwise, it’s a good hotel and I recommend it.

The night clerk was very friendly and helpful, and the staff I met in the morning were super friendly too. Breakfast was fine, and the pancake maker instead of a waffle iron was a fun surprise. The room was okay, though several things made me question whether housekeeping had really cleaned it: fresh toiletries were set out, but there was also a half-used bottle of mouthwash, hairs on the bathroom sink, a burned-out bathroom light, no coffee restock, and no ice bucket. At least one bed had fresh-looking sheets. The other was made but so wrinkled that I wasn’t sure the sheets had been changed. At 2 a.m., I mainly needed a bed. One other thing, the rate at the desk was at least $10 higher than Google showed, as it always seems to be when I walk into a hotel.

The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in quite a while, and it didn’t leave me wanting anything. The hotel was comfortable, the staff friendly, and the rooms and beds very comfortable and clean. There’s laminate flooring in the rooms. It’s pet-friendly for $25. The woman at reception was courteous and gave me the receipt, saying she didn’t want to spook the dogs.
