Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Benton Harbor-St. Joseph, MI

The breakfast was one of the worst we've had, though the woman serving it was very pleasant. There were coffee pods in the room, but no coffee pot. The front desk woman said she couldn't do anything about what we experienced and would tell the manager. I still haven't heard back, and doubt I will. The room was freezing when we checked in because the heater was off. It did warm up once I turned it on, but it was noisy, then by 1 am it sounded like a semi truck. The phone wasn't connected to anything, so I had to go down to the lobby. They gave us a different room, which meant moving everything at 1:30 am. The lobby is being remodeled, but the rooms need attention too. The shower head was so clogged that the water came out in a steady stream. Not worth the $110 we paid.

The breakfast was the usual continental spread: cereal, bagels, eggs, sausage, waffles, milk, yogurt, apple juice, and coffee. It was hot, and the woman running it was lovely. I complimented the coffee, and she even went to the back to show me the brand. The pool area was clean and the water was hot. The elevator needs work, though there are two stairways. For the price, we had a very nice stay. It's a safe location with friendly staff, and while the rooms could use an update, you get what you pay for. It's not the Ritz Carlton or a Hilton, and they don't pretend to be. I've stayed at other affordable hotels around Benton Harbor because I'd rather spend vacation money on things besides a place to sleep and shower. This is one of the better ones we've tried, and we'll be back.

I had a clean handicap room and no problems. It was nice having Direct TV, a fridge, and a microwave. The location was fine, and I don't know what people expect, this town is trashy. There was plenty of free entertainment across the street at Walmart. For the price, I don't think there's a better hotel around.

I came to town for a funeral and ended up in a room without heat. I was exhausted and just wanted to sleep. When I mentioned it, all they said was that I should've told them. Who wants maintenance in the room while you and your family are undressed? The staff should know what is wiring and what Isabella from housekeeping staff. I had to stay at another hotel the next night. It was newer looking, with much better rooms and everything worked. You'd think they would have updated since it was a Holiday Inn Express. Never again.
